Scholarships through two separate programs were recently presented to parishioners of Miami's Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

The two funds get administered by the Catholic Community Foundation to benefit Catholic elementary and high school students, according to the church bulletin. Israel B. Gonzalez and Alba M. Muniz endow one of the funds, and Soledad Bermejo Fernandez endows the other.

Recipients of the two funds include Jaime Arguello, Nathan Baquedano, Noah Baquedano, Samuel Boroquez, Neil Carter, Bryan Castro, Dylan Castro, Lucas Lopez, Nicholas Matos, Denise Ordaz, Brianna Ovalles, Leander Sevilla, Samuel Sorto and Thabata Velez.

Scholarships benefiting six other parishioners came about through the Colonial Florida Cultural Heritage Center, the church bulletin reported. Its work with Miami-Dade College and Banco Santander established this program.

The six students receiving the scholarships are Javier Fajardo, Samantha Funes, Dahianna Gallego, Nathali Gonzalez, Daniel Portes, and Cruz Salgado.

The Rev. Federico Capdepón was joined on June 21 to award the students by Javier Gonzales Camaras, senior vice president of Banco Santander International, the funding organization, Julie Williamson, trustee of the Cultural Center, and Georgette Perez, dean of students, who identified the students.
