Joe Melendrez, a Catholic musical performer and speaker, has urged the faithful to attend this year's Florida Eucharistic Congress, which will take place June 17-18.
“You wanna know when to save the date?” he said in a Facebook posting. “Let me tell you! June 17th and 18th, 2022. They are going to be held at two locations. Queen of Peace in Gainesville and St. Joseph's in Jacksonville. I wanna see you there. It's going down in the name of Jesus. God Bless you. Praying for you!"
In addition to Melendrez, the 2022 Florida Eucharistic Congress will feature speakers including Archbishop Nelson Perez of Philadelphia; Curtis Martin, the founder of FOCUS; and Marilyn Santos, associate director of the USCCB Secretariat of Evangelization and Catechesis; a release on the Diocese of St. Augustine website said.
The Eucharistic Congress will kick off June 17 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gainesville and will be followed by a full day of events on June 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jacksonville.
"I'm looking forward to celebrating the beauty of the Eucharist at the upcoming Florida Eucharistic Congress in June," Perez said in a YouTube video. "Through the Eucharist, we encounter Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The Eucharist offers us his healing and peace, his mercy and reconciliation. It nourishes us spiritually and is a tangible reminder that he is always present in our lives.”
