The Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops (FCCB) recently reported that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Catholic Days at the Capitol will be held virtually.
Catholic Days at the Capital is an annual event in which Catholics plead with politicians to defend human life and dignity.
"By joining together to advocate for laws that protect and defend human life and dignity, Catholic Floridians can give a voice to some of the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in our state and promote the common good for all Florida residents," the FCCB said.
Some of the activities for the event include meeting with lawmakers, offering legislative briefings on policy issues regarding human life and the sanctity of life, tours of the Capitol building and the ability to view the legislative process in action, as well as the opportunity to participate in the Annual Red Mass of the Holy Spirit.
The event will take place on Feb. 2-3 and will include many of the same activities that it normally has in person.
"The event will continue to include a legislative briefing, remarks from bishops and FCCB staff, and an award presentation to a legislator," the FCCB said in a release on its website. "Virtual meetings with legislators will be scheduled for participants. A Red Mass of the Holy Spirit will be celebrated on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 3."
More information regarding registration for the event will be released soon. In the meantime, individuals are encouraged to mark their calendars and make time to participate in the event.
"This two-day event provides an opportunity for the faithful to put a call to political responsibility into action and strengthen the presence of Catholic values in the public square," the FCCB said.
The event is one of the many ways to get involved in the fight for human dignity and equal protection for all lives under the law.
