Fr. Jim Henault, pastor of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando, recently shared some updates of upcoming events with his parishioners.

In the church's Nov. 15 bulletin, Henault noted that it was time to begin the Stewardship of Treasure Month, in which the faithful will make a pledge for their donation to the church and the church will provide a report on its financial status.

"After Thanksgiving, the other clergy and lay witnesses will speak about their commitments to the church financially and invite you to make a pledge for 2021," Henault said in the bulletin.

Thanksgiving baskets will be given out next week, and donations can be provided now through next week, with the sooner the better being the rule in order to provide time for building of the baskets.

Normally, Guadalupe Celebrations are held in December, but this year’s celebrations will have to look a bit different due to COVID-19.

"On the 11th of December, we will begin our liturgy at midnight, and on the 12th there will be a repeat ceremony at 10:30 am," Henault said. "The ceremonies begin in church. No gatherings or activities before the Mass will be outside. We are arranging both Aztec dancers and Mariachi bands for both Masses. Tickets to attend are required and currently limited to 300 men, women and children. The usual safety is required: masks, hand sanitizing and safe distancing."

This year, the Christmas Concert will be on Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. and will be presented in a virtual manner.

“This is a virtual and live hybrid presentation centered on the Christmas Event and stressing the participation of all who attend; plus our school and faith formation children, various parish choirs, both school children and adult choirs in both English, Spanish and Tagalog," Fr. Henault said. "Some will be prerecorded, other things will be live. You may attend the event live or watch it broadcast on our webpage, Facebook and YouTube. A cookie exchange of some kind will happen as you leave."

Additionally, there will be only two Masses held on Christmas Day: 9 a.m. in Spanish and 10:30 a.m. in English.
