St. Faustina Catholic Church in Clermont shared a reflection in the Oct. 25 bulletin on the commandments of Jesus to love God and others.

“‘Loving God and loving our neighbor’ is not just a summary of commandments as rules to follow, but a whole new way of living that incorporates our relationship with God into everything that we do," Pastor Ramon Bolatete said in the bulletin. "No longer driven by law, we instead follow Jesus Christ in his drawing all of the laws unto himself into a manifestation of love."

While Jesus could have been caught up in the many laws that are stated in the Torah— 613 to be exact— he directed the emphasis to the simplicity of what sums up all of the commands perfectly. Rather than curtailing the law, he explained what is actually important, and that is to love God and those around us and allow all of our decisions to be informed by that love.
