St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Crescent City shared a recent message from the pastor on Jesus' commandments of love.

“Jesus summarized the law to two great commandments found on Deuteronomy 6:5 – ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength’; and Lev. 19:18 – 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself,'” Pastor Heriberto Vergara said in the church's Oct. 25 bulletin

God has a wonderful way of incorporating love in everything he does, and this is why he wants us to love others— so that we may be more and more like him.

God will always do what is best for us, and we are called to the same degree of concern for Him. We should always do what is most faithful to the Lord.

“The more we know of God’s love, truth and goodness, the more we love what he loves and reject all that is hateful and contrary to his will,” Fr. Vergara stated.
