St. Patrick Catholic Church in Miami Beach recently shared an inspiration from LPi Publishing about the allegiance parishioners should have to God.
The inspiration, published in the church's Oct. 18 bulletin, comes from the story in which Jesus was challenged by the Pharisees; who, trying to trick Him, asked whether it was right to pay tax to Caesar. In the story, referencing the face of the Roman emperor on the coins, Jesus told them to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.
“What bears God’s image?” the inspiration challenges. “Scripture tells us that human beings are made in the likeness and image of God. In truth, however, all of creation, even the entire universe, is fashioned in the image of God!”
So, if the image of God is imprinted on all of creation, what is it that should be rendered to God?
“While the answer is simple, the implications are profound,” the inspiration states. “We are asked to give back to God our very selves!”
