The Rev. Jim Henault of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando updated parishioners on some recent developments in the July 19 weekly bulletin

Henault wrote that he was hopeful that all parishioners were resting and enjoying their summertime and encouraged them to protect themselves and those around them from the COVID-19 coronavirus with frequent hand-washing and mask usage, as well as safe distancing. The pastor also wrote that certain improvements have been made for the Capital Campaign (FTOM), with $770,563.04 already having been made to the new building and parking lot — a sum that represents 40% of the goal for the project.

“The new camera system for videoing masses and other events has been delayed in delivery and installation until sometime in August as the cameras are on backorder,” Henault wrote. “It seems that it’s the popular thing to order these days as more church and businesses are trying to provide quality video streaming for people to be in contact with their important realities, and what could be more important than the Eucharist?”

Until the new system is up and running, the church will continue to use phone cameras to share the services on Facebook and YouTube. Capacity is being limited to 25% for in-person masses, and safe distancing must be observed with six feet of separation between congregants.

Henault said that the half-year financial stewardship reports would be sent out shortly.

“We have reduced our budget this year significantly, but we still depend upon your financial support,” Henault wrote. “Online giving is a significant way that you can continue to donate to the parish, especially if you are unable to do so in person in church or through the Office. Please contact Wendy Claude if you need assistance in signing up to use this service.”

Finally, Henault wrote that Rev. Sunny Poovathumkudy was learing the Spanish Liturgy to use for weekend masses and requested that those who see him encourage him in his efforts.
