St. Jude Maronite Catholic Church issued the following announcement on July 12
In our distress, we prayed to the Lord, And He answered us and set us free (Psalm 118:5).
So if the Son sets us free, we are truly free (John 8:36).
And because Christ has indeed set us free, We know that is how we must stay. Being careful not to get tied up again in slavery (Galatians 5:1)
And remember, if we were slaves when the Lord called us, We are now free in Christ. And if we were free when the Lord called us, We are now slaves of Christ (1 Corinthians 7:22)
The Lord gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners (Psalm 146:7).
And since the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon us, He has anointed us to bring good news to the poor. He has sent us to comfort the brokenhearted And proclaim that captives will be released And prisoners will be freed (Isaiah 61:1).
