Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton's July 12 weekly bulletin from the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time included a reflection about connecting with one another during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is hard to share community when we are behind masks, cannot share a physical sign of peace or have a cup of coffee together,” Ascension's Communications Director Cindy Nau wrote.
Even though circumstances are different, small groups are still meeting together via Zoom or Google groups and meeting weekly to pray, share and catch up with each other.
“Our small groups still offer a time to connect and recharge our faith batteries,” Nau wrote.
For those who are interested in a larger group, there is the online group for daily prayer, with the theme of Moses and his journey of faith.
“We are gathering online on Sunday nights at 7 p.m. to watch a 20-minute video from our rebuilt partner Church of the Nativity, then have a short discussion,” Nau wrote. “It is a great way to be introduced to the concept of small groups and you can join for just one week or every week with no commitment.”
