Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie recently welcomed Rev. George Kodiyanthara as the newest member of its clergy.
Kodiyanthara is a member of the Order of Discalced Carmelites and was ordained on January 4, 1998. Gifted in languages, he is fluent in English, Malayalam and Tamil, and he is studying Spanish now as well.
Kodiyanthara originally came to the United States in 2013 and was a Parochial Vicar at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in West Palm Beach. Holy Family congregants had an opportunity to meet Kodiyanthara on July 2 at his first Mass in his new role.

Kodiyanthara has also served in a number of other assignments throughout his career, including Superior of the Carmelite Community of Kolayad, India; Superior to the Holy Family Monastery in Ernakulam, India; Councilor to the Provincial of Manjummel Province of OCD; Pastor of St. Cornelius Church in Kolayad, India; Chaplain to the Tamil community in Mumbai, India; Assistant Director of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Manjummel, India, and Formation Director to postulants in the Provincial of Manjummel Province of OCD.
Congregants from Holy Family commented on the church’s Facebook announcement about Kodiyanthara’s assignment, overjoyed to be welcoming a new priest to their parish. Holy Family says it feels blessed to have such a remarkable servant of God serving the parish.
