The Brother’s Keeper Ministries, which serves hundreds of men, women and children in the Ocala/Marion County area with food and clothing, is in need of volunteers. The program is run by Blessed Trinity Parish in Ocala.
Before a person can receive food or clothing, they must go through an interview process, and there is an immediate need for someone to conduct interviews on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Much of the food is donated but some food items are purchased, and there is a need for a volunteer who can check the pantry inventory and make a weekly trip to the grocery store to replenish supplies. This position would require one to two volunteer hours per week.
Brother’s Keeper also needs donation processors who unpack, price and display items in the thrift store. The time commitment is flexible.
Brother’s Keeper is also looking volunteers to provide customer service in the thrift store. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and most volunteers serve a full day or a half day once a week.
