There was a world for the taking and there was a world Saint Romuald chose to take.
His journey in life is celebrated partly by his choice to give up a life of privilege and nobility to serve God. Romuald witnessed his father murder an enemy and chose a monastic life, St. Matthew Catholic Church of Hallandale Beach, Florida, reported. It has been said it is not so much about the finish but the journey which rings particularly true in Romuald’s case.
Romuald lived from 951 to 1027.
"Its winding turns and several dead ends make Romuald's journey resonate with all who find life more maze than superhighway," the church reported
His life and legacy live on over 1,000 years later through the Benedictine family of monks, nuns and associates. It spans throughout the world, from Europe to South America, as his experiences provide an example for others who find themselves distracted by the world as they work on their relationship with God.
