SAINT MARTHA CATHOLIC CHURCH: The Luminous Joy of Easter

Theluminous

Saint Martha Catholic Church issued the following announcement on April 15.

The first Easter Sunday was silent and quiet because the disciples were broken, disheartened, and hiding in fear, after the shocking event of the crucifixion. It was only with the passing of the days and the different encounters with the risen Christ that the disciples began to gradually discover the joyful victory of Easter.

Then, they realized that the triumph of the Lord over the misery of death occurs in the quiet darkness of the night, the solitude of the tomb, and the silence of the heart.

This challenging time is a blessed opportunity to realize that only the risen Christ has the power to bring every human being from the agony of isolation to the consolation of companionship, from the brokenness of separation to the wholeness of unity, from the distance of enmity to the closeness of friendship, from the darkness of unbelief to the luminosity of faith, from the spiritual death of sin to the healthy life of hope, and from the tears of sorrow to the celebration of joy.

This season of Lent, Holy Week and Easter has been different, but the victory of “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Therefore, “Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the LORD is your strength!” (Nehemiah 8:10). Let us keep our eyes on the risen Christ, so that we can experience the joy of this Easter season, until we gather again in church to worship him with gratitude and receive him in the Eucharist.

A silently quiet Easter is still joyfully victorious. May the luminous joy of Easter fill your hearts,
